I must need my head examined.

Tonight, as most of you probably know, is the midnight premiere of The Hunger Games.  If you don't know what The Hunger Games is...well, then you've probably been living under a rock and you need to come out into the sunshine and read these three wonderful books and then probably go see the movie.  I wasn't going to go to the premiere because I have to leave bright and early tomorrow morning for the airport and the awesome 8+ hour flight across the country that's taking me to my soon-to-be husband and home.  Well, because one of my dearest friends is moving tomorrow and one of my brothers from another mother is in town, I was roped into going as a last hurrah/hello.  Going to bed around 3 and getting up around 6 is going to be hell fun!  I really should have my head examined.

Because I hate flying with unnecessary baggage and weight, I'm leaving my laptop at home and probably won't be blogging for awhile.  I'm not sad...I can't wait to be over there and will be back with pictures and stories to share soon!  Have an amazing next couple of days lovelies!

Slacking

Running late tonight and low on wishes.
I'm too focused on packing for my trip and getting everything ready.

1.  A trim and some layers.
Haven't touched my hair since August and I need something done with it soon.

2.  For it to be Friday.
Can we just skip Thursday? Who needs Thursday?...
Oh wait...The Hunger Games comes out at midnight...never mind.

I guess I'm wishing for The Hunger Games to be a good movie.  It always kills me when movies don't do amazing books justice.  Luckily this one looks like it's going to be amazing.

That's all for tonight! No new venue news, which is upsetting, but I'm hanging in there!

Venue update

This picture doesn't look like much, but I really didn't have any others to really go off of.
The venue is pretty awesome.  It has a ton of rustic-glam potential and is almost exactly what I had envisioned.
The family that owns the property had built this event barn to hold weddings in, but they've only had one family one so far so it's practically brand new.

We're still waiting to hear back from the family, so I'm still crossing my fingers that this will work out!

Did everyone have a good Tuesday?  I can't believe that this week is going by so fast, but I'm very glad that it is.  See you tomorrow for Wednesday Wishes.

I had forgotten that I wanted to share this video with you!
Who knew Nikki Reed could sing?

Here's hoping

We have just 187 days left until our wedding.  Um? Since when did that number shrink that much?
Last time I checked we had over 200 days to go.

Currently, we're penciled in at a wedding venue that I'm not super thrilled about, but at the same time it's close to my heart and I know that with all the brainpower my group of wonderful people have, we can make it into something spectacular.
However, last night my dad got a call from one of his good friends at work who said that he found a place for us on a ranch that has a barn and a stage and is...FREE.  Yes, free!!  All we would really need to do is rent tables and chairs.  Are you kidding me?! I've been crossing my fingers all day that this place works out.  My dad went out there already with a camera and took pictures and I'll be getting the full report when he gets home tonight from work.

Stay tuned and maybe cross your fingers for me!

Happy Irish day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I made Sparkling Leprechaun Kisses tonight.
Find the recipe here.  It's super delicious.

Hope everyone had a good night!

late night letters

Dear Mad Men, you have way too much cheating for comfort in a 42 minute episode, but I can't stop watching.  Dear adults tonight, it's kind of not fair to watch all of you have a drink when I can't because I'm watching the kids. Maybe next time you won't pregame before your event?  Dear dark black skies, I don't understand why you won't just pour down rain already?  Dear potential thunderstorm tomorrow, I'd love to hear thunder, but you are a rarity around these parts...maybe I'll hear one next week when I'm back East.  Dear almost-husband, next week can't come fast enough.  I've been missing you more than you know this past week.  Dear journalism, I really miss you.  I need to find some way to get you back into my life!

That time again

1.  This sweatshirt!
Since when did PINK start making Army clothes? Love.

2.  Pie.
Today is national Pi day.  I'm going to make a key lime pie.

3.   I love everything about this outfit.
Summery with a hint of cowgirl!

in honor of the rain

To read in the morning and at night
My love
Has told me
That he needs me.

That's why
I take good care of myself
Watch out where I'm going and
Fear that any drop of rain
Might kill me.

Happy birthday!

Today is my amazing mom's birthday.
She is my hero and I aspire to be like her, especially when it comes to being a wife and a mom.

Thank you for all you've done for me over the years mom.
Happy Birthday! I love you!

Lots of eyeliner and skirt

Last night I helped serve dinner/drinks/dessert at a 50s themed Spring Fling.
It was a lot of fun and I think half of it happened before the event, while our house was full of girls getting dressed and ready in their 50s attire.  I think that the 50s gave us some of the best music out there.  There wasn't one song that was played last night that didn't attract most of the 350 people there onto the dance floor.  I hope your Saturday night, before this wretched time change, was enjoyable!

Car shot.

Skirt c/o my grandmother.
Real vintage = love.  Heels that kill = not so much love.

Friday letter time

Dear insomnia, I figured out why you've came back into my nights recently.  As soon as I'm off my antibiotics, I fully intend to return to my normal sleep habits.  Dear Lane kids, I love spending hours with you (and your mom).  2-year-old kisses are some of my favorite things ever.  Dear March 23rd, for some reason it seems to be taking forever for you to arrive.  I'm impatient.  Dear 50s night, I hope that you go smoothly.  Dear Cassie, I'm going to miss you when you've moved to LA, but I like these little excuses we have to go out and get a drink and have sleep overs.  Dear wedding, I feel like I'm slowly but surely figuring everything out and getting things down to the core of what we want our day to be like.  Dear love of my life, I miss you terribly.  I can't wait to see your face again.

The power of Pinterest

I first heard about Pinterest almost a year ago from my roommate Hannah.
Back then, believe it or not, you could scroll from page to page and hardly ever see the same image pinned twice and people weren't pinning their random, personal pictures either.  Oh and you also got a personal email once a week from the team of Pinterest telling you how many times you had been re-pinned and the new followers you gained. It was way too much fun and kept me distracted for hours.  It still does the same today, it just looks almost like a different site.

Today Pinterest proved its worth to me.
I found the dress my bridesmaids are going to wear and ordered them within 10 minutes of seeing it.
They're perfect and $40 dollars to boot!

I can't tell you how thrilled I am that I found this pin.
Night lovelies!

Currently at my parent's house, where I'm living again until the wedding, we have no backyard.
They're in the process of landscaping and there's no grass that's been put in yet.
When I woke up this morning the weather was super nice, so I ran downstairs to try and soak up some rays before the sun left our brand-new deck.  All I got was about 45 minutes, but already my freckles on my face are starting to appear.  I love them and wish they would really hang around all year long, instead of fading so fast during the winter.  I honestly can't wait for summer.

And now, because last summer he inspired my anthem, Jake Owen's new song.

Wednesday Wishes

Happy Wednesday all you wishful lovelies out there!
I'm feeling quite productive today and I like it!
My car is washed and cleaned out, I got to hang with some adorable kids, and I made a few store runs.
The weather is gorgeous today and I'm excited for what the rest of the week is going to bring.
Ok, so here's what I'm wishing for this week!

1.  Adorable wedding invitations like these.
Can Southern Wedding Magazine just plan my whole wedding please?

2.  I wish that this would come true this year.
Have you seen the video yet?  If not, watch it here.
Be inspired.

3.  That my loans would miraculously pay themselves off.
Next month is the month that I start giving all that money back.  Fun stuff right there.

 4.  Some best friend time!
It's been far too long since I've seen her.  Next weekend can't come soon enough!

Alright that does it for me! If you want to share you wishes go link up with Brooke over at Bright Wishes!

I've been drawn in...

Over the last two days, I've been drawn into the world of Downton Abbey.
This show captivated me and I'm so glad that it did.
(First season is already on Netflix and hopefully the second will be too!)

There's just something about a good book, movie, or television show that can make you really fall in love with the story and with the characters playing their part within it.

If you're looking for something new to watch give it a shot.  I hope you won't be disappointed!

Overflow

This weekend proved to be just as good as I had hoped.
My family and I got to traipse around with these two precious girls.

Irene (L) and Jamaecha (R) are part of Wold Help and their Children of the World concert.
Irene is from Uganda and Jamaecha is from the Philippines.  Both of them are funny and incredibly sweet.
We watched High School Musical together, because it's their favorite, and they sang a long with every song.
We also took them to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and to the beach.

The best part about this weekend was today at church when their whole group sang for us.
I think I was on the verge of tears the entire time.  Their faces were lit up and their voices were precious.
They have a list of tour dates on their website and if one of them is close to you, I would highly recommend you go.

I was really challenged by World Help's message this time around.  When is our abundance of gifts and resources going to "overflow" into the lives of kids and people everywhere who have nothing?  One of the main humanitarian issues World Help is trying to make a difference in is that of unclean and unsafe drinking water all over the world.

"There are about 1 billion people in our world that lack access to clean water. This causes 2 million unsafe drinking water deaths every year and 90 percent are children. Every day 6,000 children die from water-related illnesses. Diarrhea, malaria, typhoid, cholera, worms and parasites, and trachoma just to name a few. With each sip, the number of deaths grow." - World Help's website

There's something that we can do to help rescue these kids from a life that is filled with poverty.  If your family is in a position to, you can sponsor a child and help him/her get the nutrition, schooling, and safe water (to name just a few things) that they need for only $30 dollars a month.  As soon as the service was over I asked my almost-husband if we could sponsor a child after we get married and he said, "Yes."  I'm excited!

I will get off my soap box now, but this morning really touched me and I'm thrilled to have a blog where I can share this with you lovelies out there who might not hear about it any other way.
I hope your weekend was wonderful.

Letters on this sunny friday

Dear sinuses, thank you for finally feeling a little bit clearer after four days.  Dear sunshine, welcome back to the central coast! It was nice to have a little rain the last few days, especially since all I felt like doing was laying in bed and being cozy.  Dear weekend, I'm looking forward to you. With your Monterey Bay Aquarium visit, two new little faces in our home for the weekend, and what I'm guessing is going to be an amazing Sunday.  Dear friend on Facebook, who clearly doesn't want to be friends, your obvious snub was received. Prepare to be deleted. Dear The Lorax, I'm taking two kids to see you today.  Please be worth the time and make me laugh a little.  Dear wedding venues, I've been given a deadline to find you.  Let's hope something delivers soon.  Dear lovely bloggers, I look forward to reading your posts each day and love reading your wonderful comments you leave on my blog. Can we be friends? :)

Favorite country gal

Miranda Lambert has done it again.
I've loved her since she showed up on the country scene and this song has been on repeat this week.
I'm so glad she just released the official video for it. I think it's gorgeous.
Enjoy and if you want to share your song of the week click on Goodnight Moon's button!
