Day 5

Day 5- a picture of somewhere you've been

Provided by www.allposters.com

So far Waikiki Beach and other parts of Hawaii have been the most exotic places I've traveled to. My first trip to Hawaii was way back when I was a freshmen for a marine biology field trip.  I have to say that it was the best week long, field trip ever.  My second time was when I was a senior in high school and it was more just for fun than education.  Both trips were unique and I have a lot of fun and not so fun memories from them!

If I'm wanting to go whimsical instead of exotic, I've totally been here...

On my family's road trip from Salinas, CA to Washington, NC, we stopped here in Metropolis, IL.
And we totally have a picture posing next to this guy...

Day 4

Day 4- a habit that you wish you didn’t have

My habit isn't necessarily one that I wish I didn't have, it's just the habit that I've had for the longest.
I always, always, always play with my hair.

Yes, that's my hippie hair.

I also am addicted to caffeine..and I'm not ready to give that up yet.

Day 3

Day 3- a picture of you as a child

Gotta love the 90s and blowing bubbles with my little sister Becca in Grandma's backyard.

We'll use dad's guitar case, instead of the perfectly good couch behind us, thanks.

I think this is one of my favorite pictures of me as a kid.

The Mann girls

Camping with the family is the best summer vacation ever.

Day 2

Day 2- the meaning behind your blog name

The reason why I chose my blog name is because I started seriously keeping up with it right as I was about to move out and come down to Long Beach for school...I was getting ready to spread my wings and fly.  I know it's cliche and probably a little silly, but that's what it is!

Day 1

Day 1- Recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

This is the most recent picture I have of myself.  Hannah and I decided to go to the beach in January.

and

here are my 15 interesting facts:

1. I wasn’t born with my curly hair. I lost it all when I was 2 and this is how it grew back in.
2. I was salutatorian for my graduating class (A hundredth of a point separated me and the valedictorian). Class of 2006!
3. I fractured my skull when I was about 3. I was reaching for my box of My Little Ponies and fell out of my dad’s arms and hit the pavement…hard.
4. My very first vacation ever was a camping trip and I’ve loved camping ever since. My favorite place to camp is Pinecrest Lake and I love going with the crew!
5. I hate cheese (it makes me gag) but Cheddar Goldfish crackers are my absolute favorite snack ever.
6. Horror films are a huge no-go for me. I watched one, “Hide and Seek” which isn’t really even a horror movie, when I was 18 and slept with my light on for three nights…not even joking.
7. My dream job for years was to be a killer whale trainer. For being such a small girl I’ve always loved big animals.
8. Horses were my first love. Maybe if my parents had bought me one when I begged and pleaded oh so many years ago I wouldn’t have discovered boys so early.
9. Sometimes I think I cry way more than I normally should. Most of the time I don’t even know why I’m crying, I normally blame it on my gender.
10. I want to write a book that’ll be on the New York Times Bestseller List.
11. Being a journalist is just a temporary job in my mind; my dream job is to one day become a wife and a momma.
12. My cell phone is never more than 3 ft. away from me. I guess that’s what happens when you’re dating a man in the military.
13. I’ve been to Hawaii twice and dream about going to Europe one day.
14. My family and I drove all the way across the U.S., from Salinas, CA to Washington, N.C.
15. Write me a letter and see how big of a hug you get! I love getting letters and I love writing letters.

I'm going to do this..

Starting as soon as I get home from class!

A Breakup Letter...

"I wanna walk and not run
I wanna skip and not fall
I wanna look at the horizon
And not see a building standing tall.."

~*~

Dear Southern California,
In the end, this is never gonna work between us.

~*~

I'm tired of your tall buildings,

uncomfortably dirty air,

fast paced motion,
and

big city life.

~*~

My heart belongs to the places where I can see land (not buildings) for miles,

where the air smells different and sweeter,

where life doesn't feel like it's rushing by,

and

where I feel truly at home.

~*~

Let's make good use of the time that we have left, because when all is said and done...

I'm gone.

I had an awesome blog all planned out for the 20th, but the sisters were down visiting and time just got away from me.  On the 20th this year, the weather in Long Beach was absolutely beautiful.  Actually this whole week the weather has been awesome.  LAST year however, this was not the case!!!  Just a fun, blast from the bast for you guys.  My weekend was great.  I got to go to Disneyland and California Adventure for the first time in a couple years.  We also had a fun day in Santa Monica.

Today was my last, first day of college.  I don't really know why but I was so excited to start school today! My first class was great. I think I'm really gonna like it.  Tomorrow probably will suck. I'm at school from 11 a.m. to 8:15 p.m....yuck.  The only thing that's keeping me positive is that I'm almost done! Yay!

And now today's question from my little awesome diary...

January 24, 2010: If you were to start your own company, what would it be?

If I was going to start my own company, I would probably start my own publishing company and publish kids books!

Stagecoach

Anyone wanna donate to the "Send Amanda to Stagecoach" fund??? Just kidding, but I seriously want to go so incredibly bad, it's ridiculous!  Anyways, hope ya'll are having a good week so far! My sisters get here tomorrow and I'm super excited!

January 17, 2010: What's the oldest thing you're wearing today?

The oldest thing I'm wearing today are my white, Hollister sweats that I got right after I started working there in 2006.  Super comfortable!

Hope ya'll had a good weekend.  Mine was pretty nice and very laid back, just the way I like them!

We Didn't Fail Today!

I wish I had taken this picture, but sadly I didn't.  Lately Hannah and I have been trying to do stuff together and have been slightly failing at life.  However! This was mine and Hannah's view from...the beach today. Yes, we went to the beach today because SoCal decided to be really stinkin' hot in winter.  Not only did we go to the beach, but we also went swimming...in January...just to say that we did.  As we were running back to our towels, a family walking by told us that we were crazy. Awesome!  It was making me laugh that I was at the beach and I could see snow on the mountains behind me.  For a second, I kinda, really liked Long Beach.

Have a good weekend loves!

Two in one day

I'm on a roll today.  Sorry for the pity post earlier...but I was seriously in a mood. I think the four massive cups of apple cider, two super girly movies, and this new favorite blog helped to sort-of snap me out of it.  I thought I would keep up with what I started yesterday and share today's question in my new journal.

January 13, 2011: Where do you want to travel next?

My first reaction to this question is almost always North Carolina.
I've said it many times and I'll say it again...
I'm a born and raised California girl, but I'm a North Carolina girl at heart.

Who could resist this?

And who would not want to travel to or live here??

I would seriously die and go to heaven if I could drink coffee on that front porch every morning.

But...

Tonight, I think I would like to travel here...

The end.

Something doesn't feel right with me.

I rarely post sad, pathetic blogs but today I feel like I need to make an exception.  It's gorgeous outside right now in SoCal.  It's one of those days where outside I'm groaning and complaining because it's winter and I should be in a sweater instead of a light t-shirt, but on the inside I'm thinking "ok... this is kinda nice."  Despite the beautiful weather though, I'm in bed. Strange right?

What makes it even more strange is that before getting back here, I'd only been out and up for five hours.  My body feels exhausted, like I've ran a marathon or worked out for more then ten minutes.  I still can't kick the cough I've had for almost two weeks now, which is frustrating for me. I've been trying to soldier on and take full advantage of my short time left on winter break, and by that I mean keeping strange sleep hours, staying out and up later than normal and trying to have a good time, but something's off.

I know that I'm going through my normal family/my love withdraws when I leave them or they leave me, but I usually bounce back pretty quick.  Maybe that's all that it is.  I had an amazing two weeks home and now it's taking longer to adjust back to "normal" life.  All I know is that it's 4:38, the sun is starting to set, and I'm gonna go take a little nap and hope that I can kick whatever it is that's dragging me down... soon.

Twelve days into the new year and I haven't blogged yet?? Something must be wrong with me.  There's no way that I'd be able to recap everything that's happened since January 1st, but I think my lovely roommate Kacey helped me find a way to fill ya'll in on what's been going on in my head these last, almost two weeks.  For Christmas she got me a 365 question, 5 year, and 1,825 answer journal.

Everyday I get a new question and there's five spots for five years and five different answers.  So here are the first twelve...

January 1, 2011: What is your mission?
My mission right now is to graduate with all As for my last semester and to find an internship.

January 2, 2011: Can people change?
I think that people can absolutely change! Every one has the potential to better themselves and their situations.  They can totally write a better story for their lives.

January 3, 2011: What are you reading right now?
"House of Dark Shadows" by Robert Liparulo
January 4, 2011: The best part of today?
The best part of today was going to the Aquarium with Matthew, Rebecca, and James.  It was free thanks to the Salinas Library system and it was pretty fun to go and hang out together.

January 5, 2011: What was the last restaurant you went to?
The last restaurant that I want to was Cozumels with Mom, Dad, James, Becca, Matthew, and Candace.

January 6, 2011: Today was tough because?
Today was very tough because my love left for N.C. this week, I had to go back to Long Beach to start working again, and my parents got into a four car crash right after I left.

January 7, 2011: You are lucky; how so or not so?
I think I'm super lucky because so far I've had an amazing life and seriously feel incredibly blessed.
January 8, 2011: What song is stuck in your head?
Right now I don't have a song stuck in my head, but the last one I can remember really sticking for awhile was "Come On Eileen", thanks to Miss Cassie!

January 9, 2011: Was today typical? Why or why not?
Today was pretty typical. Got up and got ready for work, worked 2-8 at the gym, and then went to a friend's house and watched a movie.
January 10, 2011: Write down something that inspired you today?
The only thing I could think of that inspired me in any way today was the blogs that I read.  They always inspire me to write more and to become a better writer.
January 11, 2011: Today you lost.......
Today I lost to Krystal.  She beat me in clear ups again and it made me realllyyyy bummed out!
January 12, 2011: What's your favorite accessory?
My favorite accessory is my Tiffany's heart bracelet from James.  I wear it every single day, no matter what.
