Days 29 & 30...

Photobucket

Day 29...
Yesterday, I was thankful for being busy.
Yesterday I was out of the house from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
I worked two jobs and I went to orchestra practice.
It's good to fall into bed after a day of productivity.

Day 30!
Tonight I'm thankful for this little blog of mine.
I'm thankful for an outlet where I can write, jot down thoughts, and be heard.
I'm thankful for the comments I receive and the chance to be inspired by others.
I'm thankful that this challenge was a success and for those of you who joined in with me.

It's been a fun month! I can hardly believe it's over, but that's ok because Christmas is coming
and December should be an amazing month!

Don't forget to be thankful everyday, for the blessings in your life.

Day 28

Photobucket

Just a few more posts in the 30 Days of Thankfulness!

Today I'm thankful for work.
I'm nannying five days a week for a really sweet family and picking up other babysitting jobs when I can.
I'm making money, while doing something I enjoy!

P.S. Who would take a picture like this??

Day 26 & 27..

Photobucket

Day 26...
Today I was thankful for a wake up call...for the patients to keep my mouth shut...and for Becca's idea to blare LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It," when we were all a little bit grumpy.

Day 27...
Today I'm thankful for Christmas and for our traditions.
I'm thankful that we put up our tree together as a family, with friends.
I'm thankful that some of our traditions are ones that I want my future family to carry on.
I'm thankful that I get this Christmas here and I'm thankful that next year I'm going to be spending it with the man I love.

Day 25..I'm thankful for this God-given life

Photobucket

Today I'm 23-years-old!

I'm thankful for my life so far and how incredibly blessed I am.
I'm thankful for all the phone calls, texts, and posts I got from friends and family, who made my day even more special.
I'm thankful that James was the first person to wish me Happy Birthday last night at midnight.
I'm thankful for the pretty fall weather and the laughter in the car earlier today.

I hope you guys are still having a wonderful holiday!

Day 24...Happy Thanksgiving!

Photobucket

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Today I'm thankful for the rain that's coming down, the smells that are already filling the house, and the family that's around me and the ones that are far away.

Make sure you say a little prayer for the men and women serving in our military who can't be home today with their families.
I'm missing my wonderful fiance more than I can handle today.

Have an amazing day filled with family, friends, food and fun!

What are you thankful for?

Day 23...a birthday and new sisters!

Photobucket

Day 23 falls perfectly on the 23rd of November (obviously),
but it just so happens to be my soon-to-be-sister-in-law, Sarah's, 17th birthday!
Happy birthday darlin!

I'm super thankful that along with marrying the love of my life, I get two more younger sisters!
The times I've gotten to spend with Sarah and Rachel have been a blast and I love both of them to pieces.
I like all the random texts that Sarah and I send back and forth.
I love that she's a dreamer and a schemer and as much as possible, I want to see all of them come true!
I love her sense of humor and how talkative she is, it rivals how much I can talk sometimes!
I'm thankful she's had a good 17 years so far and that I get to be around for the next 17 and more.

I'm excited that I get to spend more time with them and get to know both of them as well as I know Candace and Becca!

Day 22: Grandparents!

Photobucket

Today my family and I jumped in our car when everyone was home from work and drove up to Sacramento for Thanksgiving at our grandparent's house, for the first time since I can remember.

I'm thankful that I have grandparents who are inveted in the lives of my siblings and me.
They've been there for almost every single birthday, major holiday, and various other events my whole entire life.

I wish I had pictures of every single one of them on my computer but I don't!
Here's a few and I don't love any of them any less!

And lastly, this summer we were "adopted" by my great aunt and uncle as their grandchildren.
Let me tell you, nothing meant more to me than hearing them say that.
I love and miss them dearly! I'm so excited to be moving much, much closer next year!

Day 21...Wait, what did you say?

Photobucket

I know it's already supposed to be Day 22, but I'm still up and according to my cousin Will, the day doesn't end until you go to sleep, so I'm gonna blog about Day 21.

Today (or tonight), I am thankful for modern technology, even though it may not work all the time.

In a age where internet did not exist, military girlfriends, fiances, and wives had to actually write hand-written letters to their men overseas.

We'd be so happy we could cry together
and then we'd love the way we used to do.
I wish that I could hide inside this letter
and seal me up and send me off to you.
Special delivery,
I'd V-Mail this female to you.
—Nat Simon and Charlie Tobias, “I Wish That I Could Hide Inside This Letter,” 1943

I found this really awesome paper written by a girl at the University of Wisconsin, about letter writing during World War II and in it she wrote, "A 1945 document entitled “Annual Report to the Postmaster General”compared the volume of mail between the fiscal years 1943-1945. In 1943 when the war was well
underway, 570 million pieces of mail were sent. This increased to 1.4 billion in 1944 and rose again in 1945 when 2.5 billion pieces of mail were dispatched. These figures reflect only the letters sent to the Army, a similar increase can be seen for letters mailed to sailors in the Navy."
That's a ton of letters!

I'm thankful that today it's easier to send hand written letters overseas than it used to be and that it's even easier when I can just send an e-mail from my computer or my phone and I know it will instantly be in an inbox, waiting to be read.

I'm thankful for my smart phone that lets me be connected anywhere, at anytime, for those random days when communication is possible and if I hadn't been near an electronic device that opportunity would have been missed.

I'm also thankful that even if the internet acts up and I have to talk, wait a minute for my voice to be heard and then another minute to get a response back, I can still hear his voice and we can still have a conversation.

Day 20: Rainy days inside!

Photobucket

Day 20!
Happy Rainy Day everyone!

I'm thankful for good sermons at church, rain coming down all morning, lunch with good friends, dance rehearsal at our house, apple cider, Christmas lights, and a warm fire.

Who else is excited that Thanksgiving is just a few short days away??

Days 17, 18, & 19...way behind

Photobucket

I don't really know why I'm behind! Oops!
Here we go.

Day 17: Thursday I was super thankful for creativity and the joy it brings to others.
My mom, sisters, sisters' boyfriends, and I went and saw "Breaking Dawn" together at midnight.
Stephanie Meyer is a wonderful author, and while the first three movies didn't do her books justice, this newest movie was very well done and super entertaining. I loved it.
I love that there are so many creative people in this world.

Day 18: Friday! Today I was thankful for two things.
1. Steve Miller and his 23 years of life!
2. Pay Day.  After not making significant money for months, I'm so thankful that I've got a steady job and my savings account is looking a little better!

Day 19:  Today I'm thankful for the "cleaning gene."
I watched my dad vacuum the same room three times today,
and my mom has cleaned her house every Friday since before I was born.
I'm glad that this has passed onto my sisters and me!

Day 16: Keep Calm and...

Photobucket

Day 16 already? This month is flying by!

I've already written about how I'm thankful for my family, but today I'm thankful that I can call my mom.
Silly? Maybe. Necessary? Yes!

When I was living down south, I called my mom almost every day.
Just to check in or to vent about whatever was going on in my life.
Several times I called her in a pile for various reasons.
My favorite one that I can remember is the night I forgot I had a test the next morning and I literally called her having a panic attack. She was able to calm me down though.

I bet there are some people out there who would scoff at the frequency at which I call my mom,
but she's not just my mom anymore, she's one of my best friends and I will call her just as much as I call Corinne, now that we don't live in the same area.

So, today I'm thankful for those many phone conversations back then and the many that are still going to happen throughout the rest of my life.

Day 15: My fingers hurt..

Photobucket

Day 15: My violin

I started playing violin when I was 6.  By the time I was in high school I had gone through three amazing teachers, but by then it was becoming less and less of a priority.
When I was in college I would play sporadically for Christmas orchestras and such, but it had been a good solid two years since I had picked it up.

Then last week I found out that there was a violin in one of the homes that I babysit at and I picked up.
I couldn't believe all the random bits and pieces of music that came back to me.
I couldn't play a full song to save my life, but a few measures of this and a few measures of that and I felt more and more coming back.

Tonight I played with an orchestra at church as we rehearsed for the Christmas musical.
I loved every second of it, even when I got totally lost and I couldn't keep up.
My finger tips on my left hand hurt...especially when I'm typing.
I'll get it all back though...I have until Dec. 4!

I'm thankful that I started playing and that I'm still able to play!

Day 14: Food and people to share it with

Photobucket

It may not look like it, but I eat...a lot.
One of my favorite places to eat is my house and being able to eat together as a family, with one or two or three extra bodies crammed around the table is the best.
In our house we always end up having a good conversation over food or start laughing at something silly.

I know there are thousands of people all over the world that don't have anything to eat,
so today that's what I'm thankful for!

Days 12 & 13

Photobucket

These last few days have been so much fun!

I loved being back down there with Corinne and Hannah!

Day 12:  I'm thankful for rain!
We stayed up super late every night I was there and Corinne and I got to hear it pore down rain!
It made me super happy and it felt like winter.

Day 13: I'm thankful for a safe trip home.
I got home before dark and the little malfunction light on my car (that appeared just after I posted about how it hadn't given me any trouble) went away and didn't come back!

Now, here are some pictures from the weekend, mostly taken by Hannah!

Day 11: Freedom isn't free

This post might look different than the others because I'm blogging from my phone.

Day 11 is all about how thankful I am for all the veterans in my life.
My grandpas, my fiancé, one of my little sisters, and numerous others.

The military has been such a huge part of my life and it will continue to be for awhile. I'm super thankful that everyone I know has stayed safe and sound and I pray that it continues to stay that way.
I know I've been asking you what you're thankful for, but today I'm kinda asking you to be thankful for the men and women how have given their lives for your freedom.

Days 9 & 10

Photobucket

Sorry about missing yesterday's post! I had a good reason, I swear!
It perfectly ties into what I was thankful for anyways!

Day 9: I'm thankful for my little car and a safe trip down to SoCal.

I love my little Neon.  Sometimes it gets made fun of...mainly by the future hubby, but he needs to shush cause at the moment I'm the only one in this relationship with a car, ha!...but I really like it.
I used to have my fair share of car trouble with my former lemon of a Volvo, but this car hasn't given me any trouble, for which I am veryyyyy thankful for!

It also got me safely to Northridge yesterday to see the best friend and then later to go to Long Beach to see Hannah and all my lovely Long Beach ladies!

Day 10: Today I am thankful for the time I spend down in southern California.

While I was driving here yesterday, and while I was hanging out around the Ridge today, I sort of felt like I was home. Wait, what? That's what I thought too! I used to not enjoy being down here. I like Salinas for the clean air it has and that I can see mountains on either side of me and green hills in the distance.  It's more like a country town than LA is, obviously, and the big city and I did not mix.

But I'm thankful that I did get out of my comfort zone and I made the best of it.
I'm beyond thankful that Hannah and Kacey asked me to be their roomate.
Roomates make all the difference in the world when it comes to your college experience!

What are you thankful for today??

Day 8...Makes me wanna dance

Photobucket

Today I am thankful for music.
There's nothing like driving in your car and having one of your favorite songs come on the radio,
or when you can perfectly describe a situation using song lyrics, or when you can watch a baby rock out in the back of your car to an upbeat song.

Music makes me happy and luckily I'm from a super musically inclined family so I'm constantly around it!

Day 7: I wouldn't function without you

Photobucket

There are two things for which I'm super thankful for each day.

The first one is sleep.

Looking at that picture makes me want to go back to my bed right now!
Lately sleep has been difficult for me, or at least, falling asleep at a normal time has been.
It's super odd cause I used to be a grandma when it came to going to bed (just ask my roommates)!
However, whether I fall asleep early or not, I'm still thankful for the hours I get and that I can wake up refreshed and ready to go the next day.

The second thing I'm thankful for today is coffee.
When sleep evades me and I wake up foggy, I know I can count on this steamy cup of goodness to help me wake up!

We won't talk about my addiction to caffeine or the headaches I get when I don't have some.
Just let me enjoy my coffee ok?

What are you thankful for today??
We have just 16 days until Thanksgiving!

Day 6

Photobucket

Today I'm thankful for new Christmas cds, lots of laughter in the car, and yummy stew made by my amazing momma!

I'm also thankful for my church and the wonderful people I get to see every week!

My weekend was really good and I hope yours was too!
Have a good week lovelies!

Day 5

Photobucket

Today I am thankful for a couple of things...

1. I'm thankful that our forecast looks like this...

Bring on the cold weather! I'm so ready for it to be winter!

2. I'm thankful that after three years, I've gotten to catch up with both of these beautiful girls in person!

They are some of my oldest friends and I've missed them dearly!

What are you thankful for today?
