Time.

 

Time. Is. Moving. So. Slow.

It's only been four days? It feels like it's been 4 weeks already and the boys should be getting home!

In other news, I sold the Neon! Yay! So now we just need to find another car and things will hopefully start getting back to normal.

Friday Letters

Dear puppy, I feel like being super lazy and I miss your dad too.  Dear new family, thank you all for being so great and letting me bum rides off of all of you for the past couple weeks. I'll repay all of you in any way I can!  Dear people who say you're gonna come look at my car, please stop standing me up! You are the ones contacting me about it, so when you say you're coming and I make time for you, you need to show!  Dear husband, I miss you like crazy and it's only been two days!  Dear fellow bloggers, I need to update my blog since I got married! Any suggestions?  Dear October, please hurry up and get here and then hurry up and fast forward to the end of the month!

long month starts now

Looking for any little reason to be happy today.

The end of October can't come soon enough.

 Here's a little happy list to get me started.

+ Chilly nights and the promise that a heavy blanket will be needed soon.

+ Conversations with my sisters.

happiness is...

---Happiness is waking up in the middle of the night, and feeling the heat of the person next to you. You turn around and see them in their most peaceful, innocent, and vulnerable state. They breathe as though the weight of the world lays on anyone's shoulder but their own. You smile,kiss their face in the most gentle manner so as not to wake them. You turn back around and an involuntary grin forms on your own face. You feel an arm wrap around your waist,and you know it doesn’t get any better than this.

adjusting

Adjust - a: to bring to a more satisfactory state.

There are times in your life where there needs to be an adjustment period.  For me, the biggest times of adjustment came when I moved out and down to Long Beach and then again when I graduated and moved back home.  Now, more than ever, I'm in another adjustment period.  Adjusting to being a wife, to living 3000 miles away from anything that is remotely recognizable, and to needing to be more of an adult than I've ever had to be before. These are huge adjustments just on their own! But right now there's storms of life that are making these even harder.  It's just been one thing after another for the last month that have made it hard to not be "blown away."

Then, on days like today, when I'm stressed and frustrated because of the storms, I remember that I'm on an incredible journey and in a wonderful new chapter of my life.  All I need to do is "adjust my sails" and remember this...

Things might be difficult right now, but everything happens for a reason and eventually there will be a calm in the storm and things will be in a satisfactory state once again.

Dear weather, you were so crisp and cool for the briefest of moments and then today you decided to be a scorcher.  Please cool off for the first day of Fall tomorrow.  Dear Fall, I'm so excited for you.  I can't wait to pull out my long sleeve shirts and sweaters and snuggle up with my hubby when you decide to really get cold.  Dear insurance, you have been nothing but a pain since the accident.  I'm sure you're busy, but a timely phone call back shouldn't be too hard (My job used to be phone calls. I know how crazy it can get, but it's not that hard to make all the calls you need to in a day).  Dear second day curls, I'm liking the way you look today! That's a first!  Dear parents and siblings, I miss you like crazy.  Summer is way too far away and I think you need to come see us now. Ready, set, go.  Dear future home of our own, I hope you come around soon.  We're anxious to get started in our own place!  Dear husband,  thank you for being amazing these last couple weeks.  I really like being married to you.

a little bit of happiness

Ok, a whole lotta happiness.

I've been one happy girl lately.  Being married is pretty awesome.

My best friend, who I miss something fierce, inspired me to write a little happy list this morning.

+ (Very) early morning kisses and hugs.

+ Big dog love.

+ Our reality-tv-worthy-living-situation and group of friends, who are more like family than anything.

+  Going to the river and seeing family.

+  Little cousins and their sense of humor.

+  The weather's decision to send the humidity away.

+  Rainy, fall weather.

+ Cotton sheets.

+ My husband.

hot goodness

How long has it been since I've sat down with a steaming cup of tea or coffee in the morning?

Too long is the answer.

This morning I was up earlier than I normally am.

I stepped outside and was met with humidity free, crisp and cool air.

I immediately wanted to have a cup of coffee and snuggle up on the couch with a blanket.

Fall is in the air and I can't wait for it!

When life flings a deer your way....

Literally.

On Friday I had decided to make lunch for James and me and meet him on his break.  After we were done eating, I had planned to run a bunch errands that needed to get done.

That all would have worked out perfectly, if I hadn't ended up being hit by a (very large) deer.

You read right, I was hit by a deer.

I was driving down the highway at about 50 mph, two lights before my turn, and out of nowhere I see this brown blur two seconds before it slammed into my car.  I screamed or at least I must have screamed because my throat was killing me later.  There was the extremely loud sound of breaking glass and I hit the breaks.  Opening my eyes there was just glass everywhere and my windshield, right in front of my face, was caved in way too close for comfort.  I was bleeding from little cuts on my arms and chest and crying like crazy.  Thankfully I snapped into "survival" mode and put on my hazards and pulled my car up onto the grass on the side of the road.  I hysterically called James and told him what happened and where I was and he was on his way in minutes.  Two precious ladies came to see if I was alright and the police and firemen were there super fast.  

This is what I saw when I got out of the car for the first time.

The deer initially hit the windshield and rolled back and took out my driver's side rear window too.

Crazy right?

I'm extremely lucky that God was watching out for me and it wasn't any worse.

I was totally fine the rest of the day and have only had to deal with a sore neck and some sore ribs.

Unfortunately we also have to deal with our one and only car being totaled.

Suffice it to say, our first full week in NC has been crazy and memorable. 

I would really like it if life would just hand me some lemons, instead of flinging a deer my way.

Recently

Hi everyone!

Man it's been such a long time since I wanted to sit down and blog longer than a few sentences to let everyone know what's up.  

The wedding: The picture above makes me smile even 23 days later.  Our wedding was everything I could have ever wanted and then some.  Our "village" helped make everything run smoothly and I seriously don't have one thing I would change about how the day went.  We're still talking about it over here.  I can't wait to share more of our amazing pictures with you!  

It's crazy how fast the day flies by isn't it?  One second I was waking up and getting ready and then the next I was leaving my reception.  There are three things from that day that have really stood out to me as favorite moments.  One was our vows.  James and I rocked those things...even though we wrote them the night before.

The second was the speeches that our closest friends and dads gave at dinner.  I cried. A lot. They were very precious and every single one of them meant the world to James and me.

The third was when my sister Candace and her boyfriend Colin caught the garter and bouquet. It was priceless and I hope that their wedding comes soon! 

The move:  Three days after the wedding, we loaded up my belongings into a budget truck and started our trip across the country to North Carolina.  We stopped in Idaho to visit with my in-laws and get some more stuff and then we were completely on our own.  

Let me tell you, 8 hour days in a Budget truck is tiring and your butt will be very sore by the end of the day.

Seeing a good chunk of the country was a lot of fun and doing it with my husband right next to me made it even better.  

The new home:  Right now we currently don't have our own place yet, but we're working on it!  We're enjoying staying with friends and all the craziness that brings.  I can't wait to get into our own house though and be able to start really settling in, instead of living out of suitcases.  I've loved being in NC so far.

I swear I haven't dropped off the face of the earth.

We made it safe and sound to North Carolina and spent Labor Day weekend enjoying the last few days of our "honey moon."  Now things are hopefully going to get back to being normal and I'll have more time to write and post pictures of our amazing wedding.
