No, I'm not talking about SNL. Just wanted to update ya'll on my weekend of fun, but it'll have to be a two parter. There was a lot of people from Salinas in the Southland this weekend. I didn't get to see everyone, but Hannah, Kacey, and I did have an awesome time with our friends Nathan, Mitch, Lance, and Hannah's brother Timmy. We were a little bit worried about having so many people over to our apartment since we got our very first (and hopefully last) noise complaint on Halloween, so Kacey decided to make some rules and post them on our bulletin board.
Alright, part one's complete. I need to eat. I'll post part two tomorrow!

Recycling and Drinks
Hannah, Kacey, and I decided when we moved in together, that we were gonna save all our recyclable things and turn them in when there was a lot to get money and use it for utilities or a fun roommate dinner. It kinda has become a joke around the house, since the last time I tried to do this at my old house, it didn't work out so well. Today since we didn't have school we decided that we would take everything we had so far into the nearest center. I'm not gonna lie, it was disgusting. We sorted all the cans and plastic and glass into separate bags, but some of them had been sitting since we moved in almost three months ago. Oh the smell. There's just one word that comes to mind, nasty. Poor Kacey and I were gagging at times it was so horrible. Anyways, we managed to get everything sorted and in my car, which looked like this...
We got a whopping $10.90 for everything, but the guy was nice so he gave us $11. That'll probably cover our gas bill, which is nice!
The rest of mine and Kacey's day was spent shopping (Hannah had to go to work *insert sad face here*). I told my mom a little bit ago that I really get buyer's remorse now when I spend money on myself. It's kind of annoying haha. To end our lovely outing, Kacey bought me Starbucks! I had my first seasonal drink in my RED cup! Yay!
Yes, our whole entire bottom of our fridge is filled with soda. They had a party and donated the leftovers to us, since we're poor college students. Works for me!

Remember how I said we just got rid of all our recycling? Thanks to Hannah's work, 360 Combat Club, we're gonna have plenty more in the next couple weeks or so....

Thankful...
I'm thankful for all the many men and women in my life who serve and have served in the United States Military. It was only less than three years ago when the military became a huge part of my life and even though I have a serious love/hate relationship with it, I wouldn't have traded any moment of those years for anything.
Happy Veterans Day everyone.

I love country music. It was the music that I was raised on. Some of my favorite memories when I was little are watching country music videos at my grandma's house while we were visiting over the summer and it's never stopped.
Tonight I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the CMA Awards with Kacey. I told James that I'm gonna convert her into a country lover before the end of the school year.
Happy Veterans Day everyone! Enjoy your long weekend!

My Third Home
"Feels like coming home" is Delta Zeta's catchphrase in Northridge and it really does feel like my third home. I have my home home in Salinas, my Long Beach home with my loves, Kacey and Hannah, and I have my home in Northridge with Corinne Elizabeth and all my DZ ladies.
This weekend I spent time here at the house and have been having a ton of fun. I loved meeting my "niece" Amanda and seeing my "big" Nicole and sharing a mattress with Rachel (oh yeah and seeing my best friend, no big deal ha!). We watched wayyy too much Law and Order, laughed a ton, and ate gross food alll weekend.
Anyways, it's late and I'm tired but happy so I think I'm gonna go to bed now. Hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend like I did.

Quote For Thought
"Why is it that the most unoriginal thing we can say to one another is still the thing we long to hear? 'I love you' is always a quotation. You did not say it first and neither did I, yet when you say it and when I say it we speak like savages who have found three words and worship them." ---- from Jeanette Winterson's Written on the Body

Be Objective
Remaining objective is something that has been drilled into my being since I sat in my first journalism class and decided that was going to be my career. When I've come across an article or a story that's clearly not balanced or objective, I get angry and frustrated. So you would think that because of this reaction, I would be able to remain objective in situations that happen in my everyday life right? Wrong. Today I had a chance to remain objective and I failed. I gave it my best shot and it just didn't happen. What sucks is just like I feel let down as a reader of a completely biased story, it's possible that the other person in my situation felt let down by me.
As I've been thinking about what happened today and my life after gradation (there really is a connection), I began to kick myself and be afraid for my future career and relationships, because my attempted objectiveness is completely overtaken by how easily my emotions rule. Sometimes my emotions react even before my brain can and it starts this fast-spinning, out of control feeling and no matter what I do, I can't stop it. I could say that it's because I'm a girl, but that's not it, I just don't have enough strength (?) to just push that aside and think clearly. It's caused, still causing, and will cause problems and that scares me. Am I in the wrong field? Will I drive people away? Will I get fired? There's just so many questions that I'm wrestling with.
Today has been difficult, I feel like I failed a really important test or something to that effect. Anyone know of some classes I can take that will teach me objectiveness in my personal life? Wouldn't that be nice...
Anyways, I realize that this is a downer post but it feels good to write and clear my throbbing head of all these questions. Does anyone have any plans for this weekend? The girls and I are still trying to find something to do. I would tell you to be safe and don't take candy from strangers, but that doesn't work at all for this weekend (Ha!), so just be safe and have fun!
