Happy Valentine's Day lovelies!
I hope everyone has a good day no matter what their relationship status might be.
We are all loved by someone!

I wrote.

For the last few nights, when my husband gets home from work, he asks about my day and when I say that I did nothing it's always followed by the question, "Did you write today?"  Well finally  I can say, "Yes."  Granted, it is nothing that would be published (sometimes I forget that I'm a published poet), but it's a start.
I wrote something.

An exercise:

When I was in high school my English teacher did an exercise
where we were told to put pencil to paper and to not take it off for a good while,
we were just supposed to write whatever came to mind
which made for a lot of rambling and I’m pretty sure some of us ended up
with a scribbled string of, “Blah, blah, blahs.”
Well, now I’m wishing that I had those scrap pieces of paper somewhere.
Wouldn’t it be neat to look back at those messy ramblings of high-school-me, the
works of someone who didn’t have a clue in the world how life
would be later on and those thoughts might inspire me to
write something brilliant now.

Exercise over.

you don't know you'll miss it til' you don't have it

Have you ever experienced realizing you miss something that you wouldn't miss normally?
Let me tell you what I'm missing right now...night stands.  Yes, those little tables that you put by your bed that house lamps and books and a cup of tea, are what I'm missing most right now.

Look how complete and perfect that bedroom looks!  We've been spending a whole lot of time in our room because our living room is lacking in the entertainment department and I think we have both said, "We need night stands," over a hundred times in the past week or so.  Thank goodness for tax returns and Christmas gift cards!  Hopefully I can show you guys our more complete room very soon.

Anyone else missing something that's not normal?

friday letters

Dear Grey's Anatomy, I know I'm late to the party, but I have fallen in-love with you.  You made me cry big, fat tears today and your Christmas episode in Season 2 made me want to rewind two months and get back into the Christmas spirit.  Dear rain, it was so much fun to fall asleep listening to you last night. I wish you had been snow though...it's not fair that the states above us are getting a ton and we get none.  Dear husband, thank you for taking care of us and for being so instant that I don't do the dishes because I cooked dinner.  You're awesome.  Dear Cassie,  I love you like a sister and I wish I was home to be with you.  Dear family, I really miss you.  Dear weekend, I'm excited. Let's do this.

thoughts.

Where did January go?  I can't believe it's come and gone and we're almost a week into February.  Did time fly like this when I was younger? It always seemed to drag on.  As much as I love this month, with it being the month of love and all, I keep thinking about the promise of Spring and Summer right around the corner.  I had a long conversation with my grandma yesterday.  She grew up in the town that husband and I now call home and she was telling me what to look forward to in the coming months.  All the flowers and trees in bloom and the warmer, yet humidity free, temperatures.  I look out the kitchen window at our back deck and get excited for eating outside during Summer and having my family all back in the state we love.  I look down at my feet and miss flip-flop tan lines and the freedom of shorts and a bathing suit.  Don't get me wrong, I love this winter season and all the days spent staying warm in bed, but I'm ready for the newness of Spring and the fun of Summer.

What about you?

another birthday

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband!
In (almost) six years, this is only the third birthday we've been able to celebrate together.
I'm looking forward to never having to spend a special day apart again.

Our wedding photos still make me giddy.  I'm so thankful for Joni and I love this picture above more than anything else.  It's the moment when he became mine and I became his.  It's the moment that started this whole journey.  I don't think I've ever been happier.

I know birthdays sort of become just another day as you get older, but I'm determined to make this day special!

I suck...

I could not go back to sleep this morning and I was looking though my blog posts and I realize that I suck.
I was so excited about all of our birthdays last year and then I completely forgot to blog about the last three.
I guess that's what happens when they were right before holidays and we were trying to move.
I'm sorry sweet sisters! Happy late birthday to all of you.  I love you guys!

"I" statements

 via tumblr

I was...just re-reading a list of reasons why my husband loves me and feeling very thankful for my life.

I am...sitting on my bed, enjoying a clean blanket and bedroom and the sound of the laundry machine going.

I think...that sometimes it's hard to figure out what I think.

I wonder...where we'll be in the next few years.  There's a lot up in the air right now and I just always wonder how it will turn out.  I'm excited for the adventure.

I wish...that work days were shorter, family was closer, and our bank account was a little fuller!  I wish that I was working in my career field or writing a kick-ass book.

I save...jeans. I will hold onto those suckers until they are falling apart or I can't pull them up anymore.

I always...have a cup of tea in the morning. I always have my husband and family on my mind. I always want to live my life for God...even though that sometimes doesn't happen. I'm always looking for a new book to read.

I can't imagine...not being a mom.  I've been baby crazy since I was little and even more so now.  I want kids and to be a mom so bad.  I can't even imagine that not happening in the future.

I believe...that we were all saved by the grace of God.  I believe that you should always start and end the day with a kiss and say "I love you" as much as possible.  I believe that even if you don't get along all the time, your family should be the most important thing in your life.  I believe that a good cry can help you feel better and that laughter can change a situation for the good.  I believe that trust can be restored.

I promise...to be the best wife, sister, daughter, and friend I can possibly be.

I love...my amazing husband, my family and friends, my big dog, and my life right now.

letters for a freezing friday

via tumblr

Dear cold that has invaded our house and our throats, both of us would appreciate it if you left.  We don't really have a whole lot of patients for sore throats, coughing, and stuffed up noses.  Dear icy, winter weather, I love you.  It's so cold outside and with each little burst of snow fall I get happier and happier.  Dear massive amounts of Army laundry, I wish that you would just wash and fold yourself.  Where's Merlin (the one from The Sword in The Stone) when I need him?  Dear husband, thank you for being great and dealing with sick me.  Thank you for running errands for us and going to work every day in the cold so that we can have a life.  I love you.  Dear tea, you are wonderful and soothing.  Dear readers and fellow bloggers, thank you for sticking around and reading my ramblings!
