Published!

This morning I received some awesome text messages from my mom! I am officially a published poet in "The Chiron Review"! How awesome is that? My two poems from last semester, The Payback Dance and Midnight Music, are in their autumn 2010 edition.

I don't think I'll be able to stop smiling for awhile. Hope all of your weekends are off to an awesome start like mine!

Crazy Cleaning Lady

That is who I've become. I feel like I clean allll the time!

I blame my mother. It's all her fault.  Either that or I really love my place and really want it to say nice and new.  Who knows!

Happy Rainy Day everyone!

You Want Fries With That?

Just came home for my break to grab some food and turned on the TV to watch the morning news and still can't believe what I heard.  You think that law makers in California would have way more important things to worry about than what sort of meals fast food restaurants can include toys in! Seriously?

Apparently in San Francisco law makers passed a law stating that fast food chains can no longer include toys with all their kid meals.  Now they can only include them in meals that have a serving of fruit or vegetables included with the meal and have less sugar, fat, and sodium.  I don't know about you, but I've kinda noticed that California isn't doing that great as a state....maybe it's just me, I dunno but, I wonder if we as a state would be in a better place if politicians and lawmakers focused on more important and less trivial issues.  What do you think?

Eight Months

Today I had a degree advisement appointment at school.  Going into it I was super nervous because I had been navigating all of this by myself so far and there was always the possibility that I had screwed something up; however, that is not the case! I'm going to be a college graduate in eight months for sure.  I'm so excited!  Now I just have to make it through the rest of the year with good grades and lots of fun memories.

Most Magical Place on Earth...Turned Torture

Today at Rock Harbor, we heard about Chad Coltman's, one of the teaching pastors, obsession with the most magical place on earth.  He was so convincing of its awesomeness that Corinne and I just had to go there, even if it was to only get the tiniest taste of it.  So after lunch we headed over to Downtown Disney to walk around. Let me tell you, it was torture not being able to go in.  I think I'm gonna get a pass, which is actually very reasonable if you do a payment plan.  Anyways, here's some pictures from the afternoon. I love how everything is decorated for fall!

The rest of my day was spent studying for my first midterm of the semester. Yikes! Let's hope I nail it.  Have a good night everyone!

Finally

Corinne Elizabeth Walker is coming to see me in Long Beach today and we're gonna spend the weekend together. This woman has been so busy for the first month of school that we haven't really had time to hang out. I'm beyond excited to get in some best friend time!

Inspiration Admist Discouragement

I'm discouraged.  It's a long story, but right now let's just say that I feel like I suck.

However, I've been reading/following this new blog that I absolutely love and admire and I've been inspired....to write a happy list.

So here are 10 little things that make me incredibly happy:

1.  Holding hands during car rides, short and long.
2.  Writing/receiving handwritten letters.
3.  Angel food cake and strawberries.
4. Thanksgiving and Christmas at my house.
5.  Babies.
6.  Puppies.
7.  Summers in Washington, North Carolina.
8.  Horseback riding.
9.  Reading a good book that I don't want to put down.
10.  Reunions.

Wheezy

Over the summer my lovely sister Becca and my friend Steve decided that my new nickname should be Wheezy.  Apparently I breath too loudly and wheeze a lot? Who knew, cause I certainly didn't.  Right now though I bet I sound even more "wheezier" (?) than ever. My first cold of the school year has hit and I can only imagine what my breathing sounds like right now....

If only they were here to laugh at me.

Senior Year

I'm now halfway through my second week of my senior year of college.  Can you say crazy?! In a little less than nine months I will have a bachelor's degree in Journalism, not a baby.

I'm super excited to see what this year has in store for me.  I moved into an amazing apartment complex (see photo below) with two amazing girls, Hannah and Kacey, and so far we've had an awesome time being roomies.  Let me tell you, this home actually feels like my home and that's a far cry from how I was feeling last year.

Even though I went home for three months over the summer, LA Fitness held my position open for me while I was gone and I have my job back.  It's going to be a little different from what I was doing originally but, at least I have a job and already know what I'm doing and the people I'll be doing it with!

Actual school work might be a tad challenging since I have some difficult teachers, but I keep telling myself that I'm almost done.

Now that I'm back at school this blog will probably be a little bit more active that it was over the summer. I apologize for my lack of writing.  Hope everyone's summer was amazing and that your Fall has started off just the way you wanted it to.
